Alexia Purcell is an Australian journalist and author with over 20 years of experience in the media industry. A lifelong storyteller, her passion for writing began in Year 6, which led her to earn a Bachelor of Communications with a double major in Creative Writing and Journalism from the University of the Sunshine Coast. Throughout her career, Alexia has had her work published internationally as an online journalist and locally as the editor of a community newspaper.

For the past three years, Alexia has been travelling around Australia with her husband, two kids, and their menagerie of two dogs and two guinea pigs. These adventures inspire her to write entertaining stories about brave and resilient kids, blending real-life knowledge, experiences, and the unique places she’s explored into fiction that captures a slice of Australiana.

When she’s not writing, you’ll likely find Alexia upside down doing handstands, eating far too many dried figs, or spending quality time with her family.
